Not the largest or fastest buyer – but the right one
In April 2025, Payview, a specialised Danish accounting services company focused on payroll and HR administration, was sold to the Swedish portfolio company Accru Partners, owned by Axcel.
The sale followed significant interest from both strategic and financial buyers across the Nordics and Germany. Nevertheless, the owners chose a targeted solution with Accru – based on clear priorities around autonomy, employee engagement and future ownership.
What mattered to the owners
- The opportunity to retain day-to-day decision-making power and continue developing the business on its own terms.
- Ownership where key employees could co-invest – both as recognition and as a shared journey forward.
- A buyer who understood and respected the company’s culture and customer promise.
Patrick advised me throughout the sale process to Accru Partners and was a key sparring partner along the way. His knowledge of the industry and the buyers undoubtedly had a positive impact on both the execution of the process and the terms we were able to negotiate.
What made the difference
- 01
Experience with Accru Partners
Our knowledge of their process, decision-making structure and internal boundaries meant we could steer the negotiations without wasting energy on unrealistic demands. This saved time and created peace of mind.
- 02
Clarity about what was feasible
We could guide the client to focus on what could be optimised – and avoid issues that would not move.
- 03
Structural and strategic alignment
The transaction was structured to allow co-investment by key employees alongside the main shareholder – a key element that anchored culture and motivation.
- 04
Trust and direction
Despite strong buyer interest, we helped weigh up offers and intentions and kept the process calm and focused.
The sale is an example of how an owner-managed company can complete a successful transaction with a focus on more than valuation – namely co-ownership, direction and continuity.
